Puppy vaccination schedule
Proper vaccination is critical to your puppy's health. At Prime Pawline Co we make sure every puppy — whether it's an Akita, American Pitbull, Australian Shepherd, Basset Hound, Beagle, Bichon Frisé, Border Collie, Boston Terrier, Boxer, Bull Terrier, Cane Corso, Cavachon, Chihuahua, Chow Chow, Cocker Spaniel, or Corgi — receives age-appropriate vaccinations before heading home.
Vaccinations administered before pickup
Every puppy receives the first series of core vaccines. The combination vaccine protects against:
- Distemper (CDV): Highly contagious viral disease affecting the nervous, respiratory, and gastrointestinal systems
- Infectious canine hepatitis (CAV): Contagious liver inflammation caused by adenovirus type 1
- Parvovirus: Extremely contagious and potentially life-threatening, especially for young puppies
- Parainfluenza: Part of the kennel cough complex — causes respiratory infections
- Leptospirosis: Bacterial infection transmitted by wildlife; also a human health risk
Recommended vaccination schedule
Your veterinarian will continue the schedule once you bring your puppy home. Here's the complete protocol:
| Age | Vaccine | Notes |
| 6–8 weeks | Core combination (1st dose) | Administered by Prime Pawline Co |
| 10–12 weeks | Core combination (2nd dose) | Administered by Prime Pawline Co |
| 14–16 weeks | Core combination (3rd dose) + rabies | Rabies required in the U.S. |
| 1 year | Booster + rabies | First annual booster with your vet |
| Annually | Booster + rabies | Per your veterinarian's guidance |
Important
Until your puppy has completed the full core series (3 doses), avoid contact with unvaccinated dogs and areas where dogs of unknown health status may have been. Keep your puppy in a safe environment during that window.
Optional vaccines
Depending on your puppy's lifestyle and your region, your veterinarian may recommend additional vaccinations:
- Lyme disease: Recommended for dogs in tick-heavy regions, especially active breeds like the Australian Shepherd, Border Collie, and Beagle that spend lots of time outdoors
- Kennel cough (Bordetella/Parainfluenza): Advisable for dogs with regular contact with other dogs — at training, boarding, daycare, or dog parks
- Canine influenza: Recommended in some U.S. regions and for dogs that travel or attend group settings
Deworming protocol
Every Prime Pawline Co puppy is dewormed regularly starting at 2 weeks of age. Our protocol:
- From 2 weeks: First deworming
- Every 2 weeks through 12 weeks: Biweekly deworming
- From 12 weeks to 6 months: Monthly deworming
- From 6 months: Quarterly deworming (every 3 months)
After pickup
We recommend continuing quarterly deworming throughout your dog's life. For flea and tick protection, talk to your veterinarian about the best product for your region and your puppy's activity level.
Documentation provided
At pickup, you'll receive complete health documentation:
- Official vaccination record with every shot administered
- Exact dates, brands, and lot numbers of every vaccine
- Deworming log with products used and dates
- USDA-compliant health certificate (required for interstate travel)
- Recommendations for future vaccinations and wellness exams
